Our business

The INEOS Barex business is a division of INEOS USA LLC; the INEOS Group is the world’s third largest chemical company with operating facilities worldwide.  INEOS Barex’s manufacturing plant is located in Lima, Ohio (USA) alongside a facility for INEOS NItriles, the world’s largest producer and marketer of acrylonitrile.  As the principal component of Barex Resins, the acrylonitrile co-monomer imparts high barrier to gases such as oxygen, aromas and fragrances as well as chemical resistance and inertness.  

Barex is a unique specialty polymer providing solutions for a wide variety of packaging and fabrication needs. Several grades of Barex Resins are available and all of them share the extraordinary oxygen barrier and chemical resistance properties that are the Barex Resins" hallmark. Current applications include extruded and calendered sheet, blown film, injection and extrusion blown bottles, and injection molded and engineered components.

Introduced commercially in 1975, Barex Resins initially found widespread use in packaging processed meat, correction fluid, gasoline additives and agrochemicals. Since then, their use has expanded to an ever-widening range of challenging packaging applications such as medical and pharmaceutical products, personal care products, cosmetics and premium fruit juice beverages.
